Butterfly Walk and Survey

The big butterfly count is a nationwide survey aimed at helping us assess the health of our environment.

It was launched in 2010 and has rapidly become the world’s biggest survey of butterflies. Come along and learn how to identify species on the butterfly walk.

Restoring butterfly populations across the UK, in gardens, and the countryside, can bring huge benefits to innumerable other species but also to the health, wealth and well-being of the human population.
